Microcement Showers
Approved Installers of Microcement for Shower
At GreenCork Ltd, we install seamless microcement shower coatings across Leeds and West Yorkshire, creating waterproof shower walls without grout lines, silicone joints or visible tile edges, often directly over existing tiles.
What Is a Microcement Shower?
Seamless Waterproof Shower Coatings Without Grout Lines
At GreenCork Ltd, we install seamless microcement shower coatings across Leeds and West Yorkshire using fully waterproof decorative concrete systems designed for permanent water contact.
A microcement shower creates one continuous sealed surface across shower walls, niches and surrounding wet areas with no grout lines, silicone joints or visible tile edges. The coating is typically applied at a total thickness of around 2 to 3 mm and, in many cases, can be installed directly over existing shower tiles with minimal disruption.
Our shower systems are built up in multiple layers including primer, fibreglass reinforcement mesh, base coats, finishing coats and a water-based bi-component polyurethane varnish that seals and protects the finished surface.

Tiled Showers vs Microcement Shower Coatings
Traditional tiled showers rely on grout joints, silicone seals and multiple material junctions across walls, niches and tray edges. In daily shower use, these become the areas most likely to collect mould, discolour or require maintenance over time.
Microcement shower coatings replace tiled surfaces with one continuous waterproof finish across the enclosure, reducing joints, edges and maintenance points throughout the shower area.
- Grout lines across shower walls absorb moisture and gradually discolour.
- Silicone seals at corners, tray edges and niches require periodic replacement.
- Shower shelves and recessed niches introduce additional grout joints and sealant lines.
- Retiling often involves removing existing tiles and repairing the substrate underneath.
- Seamless waterproof coating with no grout lines or visible tile edges.
- Continuous shower wall finish around corners, niches and fittings.
- Typically applied at only 2 to 3 mm thickness, often directly over existing tiles.
- No regrouting cycle or separate perimeter seals across the main shower surfaces.
Where Microcement Can Be Applied in a Shower
One of the practical advantages of microcement walls is that they can often be applied directly over existing surfaces without full wall removal or major rebuilding work. Below is a guide to suitable wall substrates and the preparation required before installation.
Shower Walls
Microcement creates seamless waterproof shower walls with no grout joints, silicone corner joints or tiled wall transitions.
Shower Floors
Tray-free shower floors must be correctly sloped towards the drain before installation and finished with the appropriate anti-slip specification.
Shower Niches & Shelving
Recessed shower niches and shelving can be coated continuously with the surrounding shower walls without trims or grout lines.
Shower Ceilings
Microcement can also be applied across shower ceilings to create a more continuous waterproof shower finish without painted ceiling surfaces.
Around Shower Fittings
Microcement finishes cleanly around shower valves, shower heads and controls with minimal visible sealing around fixture points.
Shower & Bathroom Transitions
Microcement can continue seamlessly from the shower area into the surrounding bathroom floor and wall surfaces for a more cohesive finish.
Choosing the Right Waterproof Microcement Finish for Your Shower
At GreenCork Ltd, we install fully waterproof microcement shower coatings across shower walls, niches and tray-free shower areas. Both finishes are designed for permanent water contact but create a different texture and overall concrete-style appearance.

FAQ'S
Frequently Asked Questions
If you are considering a microcement shower, we can assess the existing surfaces during a free survey and provide clear advice with a no obligation quotation.
Speak to a real expert. No call centres.
Send us photos or questions, we’ll reply fast.
Is microcement waterproof enough for a shower?
Yes. AQUA QUARTZ and Microconcrete are fully waterproof throughout the coating, not only at the varnish surface. The sealed finish has no grout lines or internal joints where moisture can collect or penetrate behind the surface.
Is microcement sgower floor slippery?
The water-based polyurethane varnish we use is less slippery when wet than solvent-based alternatives. We add anti-slip microspheres to the shower floor varnish for all shower installations. The quantity determines the certification level — 100g per component achieves C2, 200g achieves C3. We specify C3 as standard for walk-in shower floors and rain head showers where water covers a larger floor area. The specific level for your shower is confirmed in the written quote after the survey.
How do shower fittings and valves work with a microcement shower?
All shower fittings including valves, hand shower holders, riser rails and thermostatic controls are removed before installation and refitted once the microcement is complete. The surface runs cleanly behind each fitting position during application. Once refitted, a small bead of mould-resistant neutral-cure silicone is applied around the fitting perimeter to create a clean waterproof seal.
Can I use normal shower cleaning spray for microcement?
No. Microcement shower surfaces should only be cleaned with pH-neutral products, as bleach, acids and harsh cleaners can damage the polyurethane varnish. Without grout lines, the surface is much easier to keep clean than a tiled shower.
How much does microcement shower installation cost?
Pricing depends on the size of the shower area, the surfaces being coated, the finish selected and the level of preparation required before installation. We provide free site surveys and written quotations for microcement shower installations across Leeds and West Yorkshire. Contact us on 0113 519 8733 to arrange a no obligation visit.
